Integrative Studio Practice

About the integrative studio practice major

Herron's integrative studio practice program is a highly individual and tailored degree that gives you the freedom to create across the boundaries of traditional and contemporary media.

Working at the intersection of disciplines that most appeal to you, you'll have the flexibility to explore ceramics, drawing, illustration, furniture design, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and visual communication design in combinations that suit your unique vision and with a dual emphasis. Digital technologies and intangible elements, such as time and sound, might also come into your work.

Skills and abilities this major develops: creativity, fine art skills, cultural competency, and an understanding of both traditional and contemporary practices.

Engaged learning experiences

Regardless of your major or future career, engaged learning is vital to your present and future. It makes you more marketable for jobs and professional schools upon graduation, it enables you to build deeper connections with faculty and staff in your field of study, and it makes your learning personal by connecting your interests and values with the curriculum from your classes.
