About the health information management major

Health information management (HIM) professionals manage electronic health records, analyze health information, and ensure the privacy and security of patient data. The HIM program uniquely qualifies students to take advantage of these opportunities as a health information leader, including professional experience in health care settings built right into the curriculum and the ability to sit for a national registered health information administrator (RHIA) credentialing exam upon graduation.

Studies and abilities this major develops: medical coding, critical thinking and problem solving, manage data security, data analysis, and knowledge of legal and regulatory aspects of health care.
