Environmental Science

About the environmental science major

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary degree that integrates physical and biological sciences in the study and investigation of the environment. Environmental scientists use knowledge of the earth's systems to protect the environment and human health, which might involve cleaning up contaminated areas, making policy recommendations, or working to reduce waste and pollution. They may also investigate the source of an environmental or health problem and devise strategies to combat it.

Your choice of concentration (earth and water resources, environmental management, or environmental remote sensing and spatial analysis) lets you explore a variety of coursework and narrow your academic and career focus.

Skills and abilities this major develops: analytical and problem-solving skills, strong abilities in science, collaboration and teamwork skills, communication skills, and the ability to be self-disciplined and directed.
