This program is the largest university-based clinical laboratory science program in Indiana. It prepares students to accurately perform clinical laboratory procedures on biologic samples from patients, work that helps physicians diagnose and treat diseases.

Clinical lab technicians analyze simple and complex chemical components in body fluids, evaluate cellular components of blood, identify microorganisms and their antibiotic susceptibility patterns, and test compatibility when preparing blood products for administration to patients. Curriculum in this program reflects the need for a blend of music and technology in today’s professional world. Music technology pervades every aspect of music product development, studio recording, and commercial music, including the classical music world. When you pursue this major, you'll study musicianship during the first two years of the degree program and participate in music ensembles and applied music lessons each semester that you are enrolled (8 credit hours total). The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is a specialized healthcare professional who supports diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including theranostics. Their duties involve preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, performing imaging, processing data, analyzing specimens, and ensuring equipment accuracy through quality control. They also enforce radiation safety protocols and interact directly with patients to gather history, explain procedures, monitor conditions, and provide observations that aid in diagnosis.

Paramedics care for the sick or injured in emergency medical settings. People’s lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care provided by these workers. Paramedics respond to emergency calls, performing medical services and transporting patients to medical facilities.

Paramedics must be confident leaders who can accept the challenge and high degree of responsibility that the position entails because they provide the most extensive pre-hospital care. Students in this program receive an associate’s degree that prepares them for caring for and transporting the sick or injured in emergency medical settings. Upon graduation, those with this major may work for fire departments, private ambulance services, police departments, or hospitals. Anyone in this program must be a certified emergency medical technician (EMT) in Indiana. Those who aren’t already certified may enroll in EMER-E 201 to earn their certification if they are CPR certified.
