Mechanical Engineering

School of Engineering and Technology

One of the fundamental and most diverse engineering disciplines, mechanical engineering equips students to make a difference on the smallest microscale level, as well as in large, complex systems. Each day, mechanical engineering principles are used in the conception, design, development, and manufacture of almost every product or process known to humankind.

Degree Maps

One of the most difficult tasks of being a college student is figuring out what classes to take and when to take them. In order to make the process a little easier, each major at IUPUI has its own degree map outlining the path you should take to graduate as quickly as possible.

Additional Requirements

Students can certify from University College to the School of Engineering and Technology once they have achieved the requirements above, but to be fully admitted to certain majors, additional requirements need to be met as follows:

  • Mechanical engineering (ME) majors must have a C– or higher in all required freshman engineering courses.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Cluster

This major belongs to the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Cluster. The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) cluster in the Office of Academic and Career Development, is the academic home of University College students pursuing majors in the sciences, engineering, technology, informatics, and computing.  The STEM cluster partners with students on their academic advising and career plans prior that guide them into their degree granting school.
