Health information management

Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering

In the age of technology, health information management (HIM) professionals are an essential part of the health care world. As an HIM professional, you will be performing tasks like managing electronic health records, analyzing health information, and ensuring patient privacy. You may also work with medical teams to educate them on best practices and new developments so they can provide the best and most efficient patient care possible.

Professional experience is built into the curriculum at IUPUI, and you will be able to sit for a national Registered Health Information Administrator credentialing exam upon graduation. If you're interested in the dozens of fields within the HIM world, you can check out the career map from the American Health Information Management Association.
