About the nuclear medicine technology major

Nuclear medicine technologists provide care in diagnosing patients, imaging organs, and offering therapeutic services through ionizing radiation emanated from radioactive materials. These technologists are capable of performing quality control procedures on medical instruments and on radioactive materials. They also assist physicians in clinical procedures such as doing intravenous injections, drawing blood, assessing the technical quality of the studies, and providing basic patient care.

Skills and abilities this major develops: critical thinking and problem solving, use of technologies, knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, communication skills, and ability to be detail oriented.
