About the music technology major

Curriculum in the music technology program reflects the need for a blend of music and technology in today’s professional world. Some students enter the program with experience working with music hardware and software; however, they could benefit from improved musical skills and knowledge to best utilize the technology. Employers will expect you to have excellent skills using music technology since it pervades every aspect of music product development, studio recording, and commercial music, including the classical music world. This major allows for a variety of academic and musical backgrounds, some demonstrating strong math and computing skills and others with exceptional musical talents.

Skills and abilities this major develops: musical knowledge and ability, use of several computer systems and software, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, manual dexterity, and communication skills.

Arts, Humanities, and Human Services Cluster

This major is part of the Arts, Humanities, and Human Services (AHHS) cluster. The AHHS cluster is the academic home of University College students pursuing majors in art and design, education, general studies, journalism, liberal arts, and social work.
