The Health and Life Sciences (HLS) cluster prepares students to pursue majors and careers in the diverse and exciting world of health care. HLS majors can explore careers in patient care, laboratory work, health care administration, health education, and health care technology. Around 75% of HLS majors are interested in direct patient care programs, all of which are competitive and application based, so HLS advisors and our career consultant help students carefully plan their schedules; prepare their applications; and create smart, personalized parallel plans and career goals that align with each student’s values, interests, personality, and skills.
In addition to being a cluster, we are also a center (the Health and Life Sciences Advising Center) that helps non–School of Science majors prepare for a professional school in the health care world. Pre-professional health programs include medicine, dentistry, optometry, physical therapy, physician assistant, occupational therapy, pharmacy, chiropractic, and even veterinary medicine. Whether you are an exercise science major wanting to become a physical therapist, a business major wanting to pursue dentistry, or a journalism major looking to be a chiropractor, we can help you prepare for professional school and achieve your goals.
