Advice to students: Don’t be afraid of failure; you will learn greatly from it. “There is no secret to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” —General Colin Powell
If you could be any major in your cluster, what would it be? Why?: Health services management. I have worked in a human resource capacity in the past and could see myself doing this type of work in a health care setting.
Biography: I am originally from Terre Haute, Indiana, where I grew up in a large family of eight children. I attended IU in Bloomington. While at IU, I worked as a peer advisor in a career center. This is when I first learned that you could have a career working in higher education. Outside of my work at IUPUI, I have been married to my husband, John, for 25 years, and we have two awesome daughters, Lucie and Michelle, who are both current college students. In my spare time, I enjoy walking, practicing yoga, and dining out with family and friends.
