Department:
Academic and Career Development
Campus:
IUPUI

Education:

  • Master of Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs, University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC; May 2018
  • Bachelor of Arts in History, Washburn University, Topeka, KS; May 2016

Professional Experience:

  • How long in ACD?: Since September 2022
  • What do you like about the work you do?: Having the opportunity to be a ripple in students' academic journeys.
  • Past jobs/experiences:
    • I previously worked at Ivy Tech Community College in academic advising for four years in various roles. Prior to Ivy Tech, I worked on-campus jobs in both undergrad and graduate school.

Advice to students: Ask a lot of questions. Take notes on meetings (outside of class!). Explore yourself and be willing to allow changes to your future plans. Don't compare yourself to your classmates/friends. Network in your classes—your classmates and professors are your future colleagues.

If you could be any major in your cluster, what would it be? Why?: I would have loved to be a biomedical engineering major. Math has never clicked for me, but if it did, I would love to be an engineer in the medical field and create new products to help people.

Biography: I have lived in four different states (Indiana, Kansas, Florida, and South Carolina), but I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. I attended Franklin Central High School, but ended up moving to Hays, Kansas, for my final year of high school, so I am a Hays High School graduate. I use my degree in history to my advantage in trivia competitions. I have a ragdoll cat named after King Henry VIII. I am a proud aunt to my nieces and nephew, and you will see them all over my office. I am looking forward to serving IUPUI students!
